 McKinney North named its Players of the Week for the Bulldogs’ impressive 38-31 victory over The Colony Cougars on Friday night. Senior David Douglas captured both the Offensive Player and Special Teams awards, while senior Zach Gagnon got the Defensive Player award. Senior Kris Williams, who had an 85-yard interception return and an 80-yard run for touchdowns, earned the Bulldog award. The Scout Team Player award went to Marcus Briggs. The JV Player award went to Brenton Griffin, and Deunte Moore received the Freshman Player award. Read full story...

Already with six touchdowns on the young season, Texas Tech's Shannon Woods (McKinney North) scored three first-half TDs in the Red Raiders' 75-7 win over Northwestern State. Woods, who had 47 total yards and didn't play in the second half, has now scored in seven consecutive games, dating to last season. Colin Bado (North) had 87 receiving yards and one touchdown in Missouri Southern's 42-19 win over Emporia State. Bado, the program's all-time leading receiver, hauled in a season-high nine passes.  THE COLONY – Putting up three scores in 25 seconds doesn’t happen often, but don’t be too quick to call it impossible. In McKinney North’s 38-31 win over The Colony, the Bulldogs traded points with the Cougars in a mere matter of seconds.

 The McKinney North football team enters District 9-4A competition with confidence, considering how this season has started. After a week of rest that followed back-to-back-to-back pre-district wins, the Bulldogs (3-0) are geared up and ready to bang helmets with The Colony. The Cougars are coming off a 26-0 win over Carrollton R.L. Turner, but that is no cause for fear for the Bulldogs.

Who: McKinney North (3-0) vs. The Colony (1-2) When: 7:30 p.m. Friday Where: The Colony About the Opponent: The Cougars are coming off a 26-0 victory over Carrollton R.L. Turner last week…In their first two games, the Cougars lost to Richland, 26-7, and to Richardson Pearce, 31-23…Tony Peoples leads The Colony’s offense with 497 rushing yards and four TDs to go with an 8.9-yard average per carry. QB Bryce Perkins had five touchdown passes and two interceptions while throwing for 571 yards…The Cougars didn’t manage a point in last year’s game against North. The Bulldogs won it, 42-0, at Ron Poe Stadium. Tickets: Available at the North Athletic Office on Thursday (8 a.m.-2 p.m.). Available at the MISD Athletic Office Thursday (8-noon, 1-4) and Friday (8-noon). Cost is $6 for adult general admission and $4 for student general admission. Cost at the gate is $7 for all general admission tickets.
North coach Shawn Pratt said that, while this is an away game, and The Colony is a good team, he knows his team will be fine. “They’ve got a good team, but our kids have played well on the road,” Pratt said, “so I’m not too worried about that.” Read full story...

Texas Tech's Shannon Woods (McKinney North) continues to make a living out of getting into the end zone. Woods scored for the sixth consecutive week, dating to last season, in the Red Raiders' 49-45 loss to Oklahoma State. Woods, who ran for 60 yards and had 32 receiving yards, has six touchdowns on the season for Tech (3-1). Justin Foyt (McKinney) had a career day in No. 14 Midwestern State's 49-14 win, registering 3.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks for minus-19 yards. Foyt and the Mustangs improved to 4-0, a perfect season that has seen Midwestern State yet to surrender more than 15 points in a game. Read full story...

 It wasn’t even close last year. In McKinney Boyd’s first season of existence, en route to an 0-10 season, the Broncos were thoroughly dominated by McKinney High in their first Crosstown Showdown.

 McKinney North named its football players of the week for its 14-2 victory over Forney last Friday, as well as its band highlighters. Its Offensive Player award went to senior Taylor Douthit. Its Defensive Player went to senior Kris Williams, while the Special Teams award went to senior Steven Meyer. The Bulldog Award went to senior Colton Floyd and the Scout Team player went to junior Desmond Wordlaw. The JV Player award went to Quentin Fleming and the Freshman Player award went to Daveon Smith.
